Gallup recently published another instalment of their ongoing report titled The 2013 State of the American Workplace, (http://www.gallup.com/strategicconsulting/163007/state-american-workplace.aspx) which describes trends in a metric they call ‘employee engagement.’
‘Employee engagement’ is exactly what it sounds like. Officially, Gallup defines engaged employees as “those who are involved in, enthusiastic about, and committed to their work and contribute to their organization in a positive manner.” Further, Gallup’s research shows that companies with highly engaged employees are 21% more productive and 22% more profitable than those with ‘disengaged’ workers. It sounds like employee engagement is a very good thing to have.
